One family, the light of Tuscany
In the heart of San Gimignano lives a story of passion, beauty and family. Since 2000 we have photographed, printed and framed Duccio’s images by hand, in our ateliers in San Gimignano and Siena.
The photographer
Duccio Nacci
Duccio was born on 7 November 1967 right here in San Gimignano, where he still lives and works today. His passion for photography began early: first as a way to hold on to happy moments, then with the realisation that a hobby could become a true vocation.
Self-taught, he learned the craft from magazines, manuals and hands-on practice. With a Polaroid and a Kodak Instamatic he began making postcards and calendars that showed the most authentic face of Tuscany. In 1997 he became a professional photographer, specialising in landscape, architecture and art.

Born in San Gimignano, where he still lives and works.
- 1997
Becomes a professional photographer: landscape, architecture and art.
- 1998
His first book is published, “Viaggio nella Campagna Toscana”, followed by work for Condé Nast, Rusconi, Mondadori and other publishers.
- 2000
With his wife Renata he founds La Bottega del Sale in Piazza Duomo – an atelier for fine art printing on cotton paper.
- Exhibitions
“Luce”, “Infinito Presente”, “Punti di Vista”, “Tempo Lento”, “Visionaria”; a permanent installation at the Rocca di Staggia.
- Today
Two ateliers, in San Gimignano and Siena – and Duccio’s prints in homes all over the world.
The heart of the atelier
Renata
By Duccio’s side since day one is Renata, the heart of La Bottega del Sale. She has always believed in his vision and in their shared project, and with dedication and warmth she has built what is today a place of authenticity, beauty and welcome known around the world.
Today
A family atelier
La Bottega del Sale has become a true family business: whoever walks into the atelier will always find one of us.
Stefano
Duccio’s son, raised among lenses and prints. A professional photographer, he runs communication and coordination for the atelier and specialises in drone filming for companies, real estate and tourism.
Chiara
The youngest of the family, “the princess of the atelier”. She welcomes visitors and looks after daily life in the atelier; she is also a make-up artist for film and photography, work that has given her precision and an eye for beauty.

Every photograph is printed on cotton paper, checked, signed by Duccio and framed in our own workshops.
